Tellabration
Tellabration originator J. G. Pinkerton envisioned Tellabration as an international event that would build community support for storytelling. In 1988 Tellabration was launched by the Connecticut Storytelling Center in six locations across the state. Today people around the globe celebrate Tellabration in homes, universities, community centers, libraries and where ever people gather.
YouTube, MySpace and blogging will never replace person to person, storytelling. Computers can gather and relay huge amounts of information but human beings need stories, face to face and eye to eye and heart to heart. Research has proven the human brain is hard wired for story. Memory is enhanced with the use of story narrative over raw data or lists. Political candidates find storytelling more effective than facts in convincing voters. Even big business has felt the power of storytelling.
