When the children hear that Miss Mij is coming,
they cheer! Miss Mij creates performances that are permanently etched in the
listeners memory bank. Storyteller Mij opens the listeners mind to imagination
and creativity. Miss Mij has a unique and entertaining way of telling
stories that make the listener feel that they are a part of the story; that they
ARE the character's she is telling about!
Some of Miss Mij’s stories have no visual clues, giving the listeners the opportunity to create the pictures in the mind, giving each listener a different image. (their own)

have had the pleasure of seeing Mij Byram perform as a storyteller and Master of
Ceremonies over the past seven years in a variety of venues for both children
and adults. I have seen her ability and talent flourish though out those years.
I have always been struck at the unique and emotional
quality with which she relates all her stories. Her characters jump out at you
and demand not only your attention but your affection as well. Her children’s
stories as well as her folk and fairytales are told with a simplicity that some
how gets deeper than the words themselves. They live in her voice and her body,
in her smile and in her eyes. She dances to the rhythm and beat of her story.
The content of her personal stories lay bare the naivety,
fear, imagination, pain and longing for acceptance we have all experienced in
childhood and we view them through the laughter and affection created by Mij in
her telling. Her adult adventures totally surprise all who see the normally
quiet and demeanor appearance of this talented teller, but watch out for the
energy when she gets going.
What I feel most admirable about Mij is that her telling
makes you care about her characters as well as laugh at their actions and
situations. We need more storytellers that care about caring and Mij is just
that kind of person.
